"Globalization & Justice:
Learning from Bhopal"
On April 26, 2005, the Agnes Scott College Ethics Program sponsored
"Globalization & Justice: Learning from Bhopal" as
a part of its Environmental Justice series. "Globalization
brings with it a myriad of challenges, not the least of which is
accountability. How do we hold powerful and rich multinationals
responsible and accountable when the countries they do business
in may have large economic and power gaps? What does justice mean
when the rules are made in an unequal power structure? How are local
workers and communities tackling and facing these challenges? Why
are the residents affected by Bhopal still in danger, 20 years later?
What are the environmental implications? These questions and more
will be explored and discussed using the disaster and mobilization
of survivors in Bhopal."
The event featured a screening of the new BBC documentary One
Night in Bhopal and two speakers:
Alka Roy

labor and people’s rights.
